The mission, vision and values of Comunicación y Hombre stem from those of the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria, specifically the Faculty of Communication. The first journal was published in 2005, under the guidance of the Journal’s first director and founder, Dr Humberto Martinez-Fresneda. The publication was further developed by its second director from 2013 to 2016, Dr Elena Pedreira, who was replaced and reinforced by its third director, Dr Daniela Musicco.

Mission Statement

The Comunicación y Hombre seeks to reflect on and disseminate the research conducted in Communication Sciences, taking integral humanism as a reference, or in other words, considering the person, the true object of the university work, in his individuality and sociability as the centrepiece. This Journal “was born with the vocation to reflect on the media, but also with the intention of raising the ultimate questions of the meaning of life” and seeking “to open a dialogue between the different disciplines”

The ultimate aim of Comunicación y Hombre is to enrich the usual contents of communication without forgetting that this growth is only insofar as it also makes man and society grow. This Journal seeks to transform through its content and be a benchmark in the dissemination of science and academia, reinforcing the ideology of the university.

The values of Comunicación y Hombre are love for truth, scientific quality, commitment to Communication as a fundamentally human process, rigour of thought, critical and human sense, academic freedom, scientific and constructive debate in Communication and Humanities, and finally similarity with the ideas of the Francisco de Vitoria University.
