Caleido. The Myth of the Beautiful Tower: journey to Knowledge

Human beings continue to question the unknown today, as always, through the various artistic disciplines. But what questions does man ask himself today? Has our way of asking questions changed? Is the artistic representation of the numinous possible in the contemporary scene? How is the connection between 21st-century humanity and the religious reflected in modern art?

This work will address the study of myth in relation to architecture, cinema, literature, philosophy and religion. To do this, take the architectural work Caleido as a symbolic space of representation, connecting it with the myth of creation symbolized by the iconic monolith from the film 2001: A Space Odyssey, filmed in 1968 by Stanley Kubrick. This monolith inspired the architectural studios Fenwick Iribarren and Serrano-Suñer to build the so-called fifth tower: Caleido: the beautiful tower.

Likewise, the links between the film 2001: A Space Odyssey and the journey to the Underworld: Hades, made by Ulysses in Homer’s Odyssey will be established.
