Objectivity, the unfinished debate

Abstract

The research covered in this article wants to present the various theories appeared related to objectivity and their significance in the communication environment. After answering everlasting questions about truth and objectivity, a summary covering the different objections to these concepts from the communications theory standpoint is introduced. It is concluded that neither the positivist objectivism nor the philosphic subjectivism can give the adequate answer to the problem of objectivity, and the adaptation (eso dice el diccionario para adecuación…) theory is presented as the only way to establish an appropriate concept about the thruth in the media.
