To inform about terrorism: a difficult but necessary mission

18th april 2005

Abstract

The treatment that media gives to the news related with terrorism, has changed since 11-S attacks in the U.S. At that time, it didn´t exist a clear position about how to inform. For the defenders of the idea of the media as a weapon of propaganda to spread terrorist groups´ ideas, the informative “blackout” is the solution to hush up the violent ones. But society needs to know, and the media must give all the necessary information. The self-control is the most ethical way to bring face to face the information about terrorism acts.
