For the defenders of the idea of the media as a weapon of propaganda to spread terrorist groups´ ideas, the informative “blackout” is the solution to hush up the violent ones. But society needs to know, and the media must give all the necessary information. The self-control is the most ethical way to bring face to face the information about terrorism acts.

Abstract

The treatment that media gives to the news related with terrorism, has changed since 11-S attacks in the U.S. At that time, it didn´t exist a clear position about how to inform. For the defenders of the idea of the media as a weapon of propaganda to spread terrorist groups´ ideas, the informative “blackout” is the solution to hush up the violent ones.
