Engagement and ways of wait in Pedro Laín Entralgo’s anthropology of hope

Abstract

The aim of this article is to show how, in the hope theory of the Spanish philosopher Pedro Laín Entralgo, has a central place
the reflection on engagement. Laín distinguishes three different types of waiting dep ending on the degree of commitment. Authentic hope is characterized by responding to a personal vocation. This vocation is not individualistic but committed to reality and to society. Belief, hope and love are the ground of human life.
