Digital media has flourished in the 21st century, adapting to new information consumption patterns and emphasizing immediacy. This study examines the case of El Debate de Hoy (2017-2021), a digital initiative by the Catholic Association of Propagandists bridging the historical El Debate (1910-1936) and its relaunch in 2021 as a generalist outlet. Using quantitative content analysis of 8,216 published items alongside interviews and participant observation, this research identifies political opinion as the dominant genre, followed by cultural themes, framed by Christian humanism as the editorial backbone. The study also traces the evolution of sections from an initial thematic structure to a streamlined design in 2019, reverting to a broader configuration later. Conclusions highlight El Debate de Hoy’spioneering role in championing clear editorial values and its influence as a precursor to the new El Debate
