Abstract
For Gabriel Marcel, Being is not an idea or a mere concept, but rather a responsible encounter and participation between the subject and other subjects. Being is coexisting, projecting oneself, living together and forming relationships with another for purposes beyond individual benefit, an act of the affirmation of both, as a free presence beyond the world of Having. Being is the saving plenitude that becomes apparent or can be accessed in an ideal community with others, by means of spiritual acts that enable love, loyalty and hope.
