Abstract

The article discusses the need to deepen the study of newsgathering techniques as mechanisms that contribute to make reality spectacular, especially on television. It also analyzes hidden camera as a newsgathering method that implies serious ethical risks. Among them are: its accusatory character, its Manichean approach or the journalists´ active role in action. It finally performs a content analysis of two of the reports recorded with hidden camera in one of the programs that uses this technique more regularly, Diario D on chanel Cuatro.
